More than a repair

Some spaces need more than a repair. They need imagination.

Ordinary Spaces. Extraordinary Possibilities.

Crabby’s Distinctive Spaces brings creative ideas, thoughtful craftsmanship, and distinctive architectural details together to give everyday interiors a personality all their own.

From a small custom bar or beautifully detailed feature wall to a coordinated room refresh, I enjoy finding ways to make spaces more interesting, functional, and uniquely yours.

Whether the project calls for new materials, authentic architectural salvage, or a creative combination of both, the goal is simple: create something that feels like it truly belongs.

A little personality goes a long way

Character is in the details.

Sometimes the most memorable spaces begin with one unexpected idea: an old cabinet worth saving, a beautiful piece of trim, or a corner with more potential than meets the eye.

Distinctive Spaces brings that same playful ingenuity to thoughtful, carefully crafted interior details—always with your style and your home in mind.

Real Projects. Real Possibilities.

These photographs document genuine past renovation projects and demonstrate design interests and craftsmanship. They do not imply that every aspect of these larger renovations is currently offered as a handyman service.

A Kitchen with Character

Salvaged cabinetry, beadboard, decorative trim, and carefully considered finishing details come together in a kitchen with its own sense of history. The adjacent coffee bar brings a different color story and custom-finished butcherblock surface into the same home.

Old materials. New life. A space with a story.

A Nursery with a Story

What began as a dated room with patterned wallpaper and green carpeting became a welcoming nursery with blue-gray beadboard, carefully finished trim, and warm vintage character. An antique salvaged door, thoughtfully fitted to the opening and retaining its functioning mortise hardware, brings an especially personal piece of history into the space.

The creative direction was a collaboration with my wife, while I handled the hands-on room transformation and finish carpentry. Carpet installation was completed separately.

A room for new memories, built with pieces of the past.

Ways to add character

Explore the Possibilities

From one remarkable detail to a thoughtfully coordinated room, every project begins with the space, the materials, and your personal style.

01

Distinctive Room Transformations

Give an ordinary room new personality through coordinated finishes, decorative millwork, carefully selected materials, and custom features. From dining rooms and home offices to small spaces and overlooked corners, a thoughtful refresh can make a remarkable difference. Unlike a routine handyman Room Refresh focused on preparation, repairs, painting, and trim, these projects bring together more individualized creative features, coordinated finishes, specialty materials, or custom details. Individually quoted.

02

Custom Built-Ins & Feature Spaces

Sometimes one special feature changes everything. Explore nonstructural home bars, display shelving, bookcases, decorative alcoves, and furniture-style built-ins crafted from new lumber or adapted from quality existing pieces. This is an active specialty offering, with each suitable nonstructural project custom quoted. Standalone furniture manufacturing is not currently offered.

03

Architectural Salvage & Reclaimed Materials

Some materials have a story worth continuing. I enjoy discovering creative ways to incorporate vintage cabinetry, authentic wood paneling, reclaimed solid wood, decorative trim, and other architectural elements into today’s homes. I can also source materials as a standalone service, whether or not you hire me for installation. Local Architectural Salvage Sourcing starts at $150; Regional Specialty Sourcing starts at $225; Salvage Acquisition & Transportation starts at $125 and is individually quoted. Materials, purchase costs, transport and installation are quoted separately unless included in an approved scope. Sourcing is a defined research service, not a guarantee that a suitable item can be found or purchased. You may buy directly from the seller or authorize Crabby’s to purchase on your behalf. Sourcing fees are separate from installation and are not credited toward installation.

04

Decorative Millwork & Wall Treatments

The right details can give a room depth, warmth, and character. Decorative wall molding, beadboard, wainscoting, feature walls, nonstructural paneling, and distinctive trim details can suit styles from classic and traditional to clean and contemporary.

05

Design Concepts & Material Sourcing

Have an idea but aren’t sure where to begin? I can help explore creative directions, material combinations, finishes, and distinctive features that suit your space. Your initial phone or online inquiry is complimentary. An on-site creative consultation is $150, fully credited toward an eligible approved Distinctive Spaces installation project, with no installation minimum. The full credit applies once to an eligible installation booked within 90 days, with reasonable extensions for active projects or specialty-material delays. Optional Concept Development starts at $225 when additional planning is needed, with an agreed scope and custom quote; it is not credited toward installation. Detailed design development is not automatically included in the consultation.

Specialty offerings are subject to project review, availability, and applicable scope limits. Custom built-ins and room transformations are individually quoted. Standard handyman Room Refresh pricing does not apply to Distinctive Room Transformations. Any sourcing and installation arrangement is reviewed for applicable handyman scope and contract limits, including labor and materials.

The beauty is in the details

Worth keeping. Worth reimagining.

Some of the most compelling details have already lived a life. Salvaged pilasters, trim, paneling, and other well-made elements can become the focal point of a new setting—when the material and project are a good fit.

We love discovering that potential, whether the finished space feels timeless, bold, understated, or entirely unexpected.

Start with an Idea

You don’t need a complete room transformation to create something special. Perhaps it’s a small bar along one wall, a built-in display for treasured pieces, or decorative molding that gives a room the character it’s been missing.

Tell me what you have in mind, and let’s explore what’s possible. Your consultation becomes part of your project investment. The full $150 on-site consultation fee is credited toward an eligible Distinctive Spaces installation booked within 90 days, with no minimum installation amount. Reasonable extensions are available for active projects or specialty-material delays. A brief initial phone or online inquiry is complimentary.

Use the existing request form to describe your Distinctive Spaces idea. Mention “Distinctive Spaces” in your project description; I’ll follow up to discuss the appropriate next step. Submitting the form does not book or charge for an on-site consultation.
